By the time season six rolled around, I was yet again at a crossroads. Even though I was ready to move on from my work as a consulting producer on OWN’s Iyanla, Fix My Life, I nonetheless signed on to produce a short season of six shows, shot in late winter/early spring of 2015. While there were things about the work I still enjoyed, it is my nature to become restless once I feel that I have mastered the challenge. Right before we were scheduled to wrap shooting for the season (in May), I decided to also schedule a hiatus for the radio show (in late April). I didn’t really know why. If I’m completely honest about it, I just didn’t feel like doing it anymore. Instead, I wanted to concentrate all of my time and energy on moving my life forward: from that small bedroom on the second floor of my parents’ summer home to some other place, and space, in time.
I started a fast. I created vision boards for my next chapter. I planned. I dreamed. And none of what I wanted to happen, happened. But a whole lot of “other” things did. I went off the social media grid for months. I dropped completely off the radar screen. I didn’t call or contact anyone for the entire summer. I went into a very dark place within my soul. And I stayed there for the remainder of the year.
In 2015, we produced 6 original shows. Here’s a look at some of them.
